People the world over are searching for solutions to bring about peace, for the most part focused on external or institutional initiatives, with the United Nations pronouncing September 21 as the International Day of Peace. While being important, few of these more “external” initiatives manage to bring about lasting peaceful transformation where it’s needed most: in the very hearts of men and women across the planet.
So, for the 2008 International Day of Peace, Sahaja Yoga France decided to propose something a little more concrete, that enables each and every one of us to contribute to world peace in a tangible way, by awakening one’s own inner peace. Parisians were invited to an evening of meditation, music and information to share Shri Mataji’s vision regarding peace and also, more importantly, the actual experience of peace within. The documentary on Shri Mataji’s life and work, “Freedom and Liberation” was projected, and an exhibition with themes such as “Zen becomes reality”, “For a culture of peace” and “Inner science” was on show. Above all, the 80 or so participants had a taste of the inner peace and wellbeing as proposed freely by Shri Mataji to all who desire it, through Sahaja Yoga meditation.
It was a wonderful evening, that will now go into road-show mode around the major French cities. So, if you’re ever travelling in France, don’t hesitate to drop in and see us at one of our 40+ meditation centres. You can find Sahaja Yoga programs in France here.
We’d love to share a moment of meditation with you.
Pragya
P.S. To read more about Shri Mataji’s vision for world peace through inner transformation, get a copy of her book, “Meta Modern Era”. Details can be found here.
When was the last time you had a day you could describe like this:
“A most enlightening and enriching experience.” Sushil
“Wonderful, positive…and truly was attuned to the individual spirit.” Katrina
“I experienced calmness and tranquillity.” Murali
“Lovely atmosphere and a beautiful place to be.” Alan
“I felt very peaceful of mind, which was hard lately…having very kind and warm people around was a good feeling too.” Indiana
These are just some of the glowing comments received from people who attended Sahaja Yoga’s free one-day meditation workshops in Sydney. If a day like this appeals to you, please read on to learn how you can participate.
Seeking truth and peace
Most people at some time have felt stressed or out of balance or found themselves seeking an indefinable something “more” in their lives. As a result, many people have now discovered the benefits of true meditation with Sahaja Yoga, and enjoy the peace and enlightenment they find when attending our free weekly classes in locations across Australia. The meditation is very easy and no prior experience is needed.
Here in Sydney, over some time we had requests for more in-depth sessions, more than we could possibly fit into our local weekly meetings of an hour or two. So one bright Sunday morning, some years ago, we held our first half-day meditation workshop, which proved to be very popular with both absolute beginners and regulars alike. Demand simply kept growing. So we now hold free one-day meditation Sunday workshops in Sydney, about three or four times a year.
“A beautiful experience – what a lovely day we had!” Anita
“This was a touch of love in my life.” Carlos
“It is one of the most amazing and wonderful experiences, coming to the meditation workshop. Enjoyed each minute of it.” Nandini
“Thanks for helping me to see how much power and energy I have in myself. It was really an amazing experience – I enjoyed it very much.” Manpreet
“Brilliant workshop! Theory is clear and the meditation makes it a very rewarding day.” Sandra
Workshops
Though the topics and presenters may vary with each workshop, by request the workshops have an emphasis on blending lots of practical sessions and meditations along with the theory.
Sahaja Yoga meditation workshops are provided free, as a non-profit community service, with very experienced meditators there to help with any queries.
“In this age of commercialisation and business orientated activities, I am delighted to see such activities being done on a volunteer basis at no cost to the participants. This speaks a lot of the true intentions of the organisers, who are there to really help the community. Keep it up!” Yan
Meal breaks
Lunch and morning tea are provided ($5 by donation on entry).
When is the next workshop?
Please note, the next Sydney workshop date has not yet been decided. Once the date is set, we notify people in our database by email, about two weeks before the event. If you’d like to be notified, see how to subscribe below.

During the Sahaja Yoga programs held in Lebanon from 8 to 10 August 2008 about 120 people received their Realisation.
On Friday 8 August at Unesco all the people stayed until the end, more than three hours. Two people came for the second time and asked lots of questions.
On Saturday 9 August in the public garden most of the people were older. Many felt peace inside and asked when the next meeting would be. One of the children after receiving his Realisation brought his mother who enjoyed her Realisation.
Most of the Realisation sessions were done in Manara on 10 August. It was the first time there was less stress, the surrender was deeper, and the fear of giving Realisation to people who may have refused it was not felt as usual.
A Shiite lady who had already received her Realisation brought her husband to the program. After receiving his Realisation, the husband started helping us and explaining to people that Sahaja Yoga is not related to any religion and was not against their religion.
Another Shiite lady, after receiving her Realisation, expressed her very, very deep joy and bliss inside her and added, “I feel so much light! I believe that all religions are to be respected.” She seemed to be against fanaticism. So it opens the heart to meet such wonderful seekers.
A young man who was a volunteer in a Peace association enjoyed his Realisation so much that he invited us next Tuesday and Wednesday to have Sahaja Yoga activities for children coming from all religions and cities in Lebanon.
The next Sahaja Yoga programs in Lebanon will be held from 19 to 21 September, 2008.
